Mechanical Clutches

Mechanical CAM Clutches use a cam or wedging element to lock the inner and outer races of the clutch. This transmits torque in only one direction. CAM clutches are often referred to as freewheels, sprag, overrunning, backstop or one-way clutches. These clutches are used for three basic modes of operation: Overrunning, Indexing and Backstopping.

Torque overload devices help protect machinery from overloads or equipment jams. Regal offers 4 different types of Torque overload devices: Shear Pin, Friction Facing, Ball Detent and Cam-Follower; designed for different applications’ accuracy requirements.
