Regal Launches Genteq® Ensite® Motor for Furnace Applications
BELOIT, Wis., January 22, 2018 — Regal Beloit Corporation, a leading manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announced the debut of the Ensite® motor which is specially designed for furnace applications. This motor was conceived to enable our customers to comply with the requirements of Fan Energy Rating (FER) regulations by the Department of Energy (DOE) which takes effect the 3rd of July 2019. The Ensite motor is an advanced, Internet of Things (IOT) ready product which will drive the lowest total cost of ownership for our customers.
The Ensite motor will be available in standard and high efficiency versions. This innovative motor has best-in-class reliability and improved noise performance. The Ensite motor is the first of its kind with Near Field Communication (NFC), which allows for programming without physically connecting to the motor. Our EnЯ•G•Riter™ software is being launched with the Ensite motor. The advanced feature Blak Box® motor technology has been incorporated in the motor to help with IOT, preventative maintenance and warranty analysis.
In 2014, the DOE announced national efficiency standards that specify a maximum fan energy rating for furnace fans that will take effect in 2019. The goal of the DOE is to reduce energy consumption in furnaces by approximately 40 percent in 30 years, equivalent to 500 billion kilowatt hours. This regulation translates to reduce CO2 emissions by 180 million metric tons. Furnaces are one of the largest energy consumers in a standard household and account for approximately 10 percent of yearly energy use.
