Water & Wastewater
Trends
The water and wastewater industry is highly regulated and must continue to meet tighter water quality standards. Plant demands depend on commercial, industrial, and residential water use that are tied to economic and population growth.
Highly Reliable Equipment
Equipment operates in a 24/7 mode with dependability critical to a facilities performance, where uptime is measured in minutes not hours. Simply stated, we build mission-critical motors, VFDs, couplings, reducers, gear drives and bearings.
Energy Efficiency
With the cost of energy on the rise, we are an industry leader in variable speed energy efficient motors that minimize lifecycle costs. Our helical-bevel gear drives have some of the highest efficiencies in the industry at over 90%.

Segment Analysis
Local and state government investment
Local and state governments are responsible for the lion’s share of the investment in national water supply systems. Water supply systems typically include pumping stations, aqueducts and distribution mains. Growth in water consumption tends to produce increased volumes of wastewater.
Number of households
The overall number of households determines the need for water reserves and this is also directly correlated with the levels of overall water consumption. More households create a higher level of consumption, leading to an increase in wastewater volume.
The segment shows growth through 2022.

Water & Wastewater Innovation

Solutions for the Long Run
The original water project had called for seven 800HP, 4000V 14-pole motors that were to be started across the line. The motors had been successfully commissioned and had run flawlessly for over three years in the harshest of conditions, had a 24/7 schedule and had incurred a minimum of maintenance and downtime. The customer now wants to retrofit with VFDs to increase throughput.
