US oil and gas production index
Production and exploration activities are sensitive to world prices for oil and gas products. When prices are high, production and exploration increases, driving demand for drilling equipment.
Over the five years to 2021, the industry is expected to partially rebound from its downturn. Positive commodity pricing trends over the latter half of the five-year period are expected to support demand from buyers of oil & gas machinery.
The strong US dollar will present a challenge. However, buyers tend to value durability, reliability and customized products more than just a low cost. This will keep lower-cost imports at bay.
